Throughout 2024, the agency must continue to prepare for the census. In particular, the department was instructed to develop videos, banners, flyers and booklets to promote and explain the census to the general population, to improve the forms of census questionnaires based on the results of the pilot census conducted in 2021 and the recommendations of international experts.

In addition, the agency must finalize the Population Census information system based on international experience and expert recommendations, purchase a license for the practical STATA software package and generate layouts for output tables of census results, as well as develop a plan for organizing the census.

The census itself is planned to be conducted in 2025-2026, and the results are to be prepared and published in 2026-2027.

In addition, by the end of 2025, the Statistics Agency must develop methodological documents on the preparation and conduct of the agricultural census. This is a study that reflects the state of the country’s agricultural sector – size of plots, land tenure, types of land use, areas, irrigation, livestock, labor involved and other agricultural resources.

A regulatory document on conducting an agricultural census is planned to be adopted in 2027-2028.

For information, a population census has not been conducted in Uzbekistan for 34 years. Due to the pandemic, it was postponed from 2022 to November 2023, but money has still not been allocated for the event.
