The president has inaugurated the commencement of construction for three new power stations in the Namangan region, summing up in a total investment exceeding $1 billion.
These new facilities are forecasted to enhance the region's total generating capacity to over 2,000 megawatts, thereby fully meeting the local demand for electricity.
A ceremonial event marked the beginning of construction for three new power plants with a combined investment of $1.1 billion and a total capacity of 1,228 megawatts—consisting of a cascade of hydroelectric power stations and two solar power stations in the Namangan region.
Specifically, the joint-stock company "Uzbekhydroenergo" will construct a complex of 6 hydropower stations on the Naryn River in the Uychi district, with a total projected cost of $434 million, amassing a cumulative power output of 228 megawatts. These plants will produce 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, saving 310 million cubic meters of gas and supplying power to 430,000 households.
The hydroelectric stations will utilize equipment and technologies manufactured domestically, marking the first entirely homegrown hydroelectric generation project in the country.
These stations will employ 133 individuals directly, with construction set to create jobs for 4,000 persons during the building phase.
In the Pap district, Hyper Partners GmbH from Germany will establish a 500-megawatt solar power station, with the venture valued at $350 million and an annual generation of 1.095 billion kilowatt-hours.
Another solar power facility is slated for construction in Pap, in collaboration with Tepelen Group Holding Limited from the United Arab Emirates. This installation will also cost $350 million and provide a capacity of 500 megawatts.
These stations are anticipated to be integrated into the power grid by the end of this year and will create 120 permanent jobs.
"The successful operationalization of the aforementioned projects will see the generating capacity in the Namangan region ascend to 2,141 megawatts. Annually, 7.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be produced, adequately covering the region's demand for 5.5 billion kilowatt-hours. The surplus 30% of generated electricity will be distributed to the Andijan and Fergana regions," the announcement stated.
At the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev pressed the symbolic button that launched the construction of these significant energy initiatives.
