Telegram's monetization under legal review before launch in Uzbekistan

The legality of the implementation of monetization on Telegram is being analyzed in Uzbekistan, as disclosed by the first deputy director of the National Agency for Project Management, Vyacheslav Pak.

He stated that if any violations of the law are detected, law enforcement will be notified. In this case, any provider or individual found to be assisting in such violations will be held accountable according to the law.

Pak also emphasized that the opening of a Telegram office in Uzbekistan would afford the regulator the ability to protect consumer rights and impose penalties in cases of legal violations.

"Telegram must comply with the legislation of Uzbekistan, including our laws and restrictions, pay taxes, and have servers in the country. This protects our citizens and works for the Uzbek economy," he said.

Previously, Telegram had launched monetization for channel owners. According to this, a public channel owner with more than a thousand subscribers can receive 50 percent of the income generated from displayed advertisements. Payments are made exclusively in the digital cryptocurrency TON.

The monetization program operates in countries other than Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, Germany, and Israel.
