Uzbekistan's trade turnover surges, fueled by gold exports
In March, Uzbekistan exported $1.35 billion worth of gold.
In January-March 2024, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover totaled $15.8 billion, almost $1 billion or 6.2 percent higher compared to the same period in 2023.
According to the Statistics Agency, exports increased by 10 percent to $6.38 billion, while imports rose to $9.44 billion. The foreign trade deficit slightly decreased to $3.05 billion, $232.2 million less than in 2023.
In the first quarter, gold exports increased by 10.5 percent to $2.66 billion (compared to $2.41 billion in the first quarter of 2023), accounting for 41.7 percent of the country's total exports.
In March alone, Uzbekistan exported gold worth more than $1.35 billion, a figure nearly equal to that of February ($1.32 billion).
