The document, reviewed by the Committee on Science, Education, and Healthcare, is expected to ensure the inviolability of the results of intellectual activity and strengthen mechanisms aimed at protecting the rights and interests of their owners.

The proposed amendments to the legislation include the introduction of a procedure for compensating copyright infringement by the infringer at the request of the rights holder.

Participants in the session noted that the future law will help reduce the number of copyright infringements. It is also anticipated to facilitate the implementation of mechanisms to protect rights to creative activity in the digital environment.

In October 2023, the Ministry of Justice submitted a bill to the Oliy Majlis aimed at strengthening the protection of copyright in the digital sphere. It proposed personal liability for violations of copyright by owners and administrators of online resources.

In April 2022, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree envisaging the creation of a special registry for pirate sites. The Ministry of Justice explained that the Ministry of Digital Development, now known as the Ministry of Digitalization, may restrict the operations of such resources.
