UN appoints new resident coordinator for Uzbekistan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov today received the new UN Resident Coordinator Sabine Mahl.
“We are pleased to meet with the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan H.E. Sabine Mahl,” the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan wrote on his Telegram channel. – They especially noted that the provisions of the Uzbekistan 2030 strategy are fully consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals. The government of Uzbekistan has a broad program of cooperation with the UN and its institutions. Our close cooperation demonstrates high dynamics in all areas. It should be emphasized that recently the UN General Assembly has adopted 9 resolutions initiated by Uzbekistan, and only 3 in 2024. We have to achieve even greater results. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan is ready to provide all necessary support to the team of the UN Office in Uzbekistan”.
Experienced Austrian and international diplomat Sabine Mahl replaced Roli Asthana, who headed the UN team in Uzbekistan in 2022-2023.
