Mirziyoyev sends condolences to the President and Prime Minister of India over Uttar Pradesh tragedy
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent his condolences to the President of India Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in many deaths and injuries.
The president expressed his deep condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
In Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, at least 121 people were killed and 31 injured in a stampede during a religious gathering. Most of the victims were women.
The tragedy occurred in the village of Phulrai Mughal Garhi, where nearly 250,000 people had gathered to listen to the preacher Bhole Baba. According to doctors, most of the deaths were caused by suffocation. Among the victims were 112 women and seven children.
