Uzbekistan braces for floods and mudslides across six regions due to heavy rains
From July 13 to 16, heavy rains are expected, which could lead to flood and mudslide incidents in mountainous areas. People living in foothill and mountainous regions, vacationers, and drivers traveling through these areas are urged to take precautionary measures.
According to Uzhydromet, the following areas are at risk of floods and mudslides:
- Kashkadarya Region: Yakkabog, Dehkonobod, Chirokchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, Guzor districts;
- Surkhandarya Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Kumkorgon, Muzrabot districts;
- Tashkent Region: Ohangaron, Bostonlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchik, Yukori Chirchik districts and Angren, Olmalyk cities;
- Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortok, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgon districts;
- Fergana Region: Sokh, Fergana, Besharyk districts and Shohimardon area;
- Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khujaobod, Marhamat districts and Khonobod city.
Citizens living in foothill and mountainous regions, vacationers, and drivers traveling through these areas are urged to take precautionary measures.
Additionally, there is a possibility of rainwater accumulation throughout the republic, which could lead to flooding in various areas.
