Heavy rain may trigger flood risk in mountainous areas of Uzbekistan – Uzhydromet
Uzhydromet has issued a flood warning for several districts across five regions from July 9 to 11, due to expected rainfall in mountainous and foothill areas of the country.
The districts at risk include:
- Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsay, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Qumqorgon, and Muzrabot;
- Tashkent region: Ohangaron, Bustanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq, Yuqori Chirchiq, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
- Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangiqorgon;
- Fergana region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, and Besharyk;
- Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Marhamat districts, and the city of Khonobod.
Residents, tourists, and drivers in these areas are urged to exercise extreme caution. Authorities emphasized the potential for rainwater accumulation in some regions, which could lead to localized flooding.
Following a period of intense heat across Uzbekistan last week, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease between July 8 and 11.
