The names of airports, bus terminals, and bus stations in Uzbekistan will be brought into compliance with the rules and standards of the state language, and a number of facilities will be given new names. This is stipulated in a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated January 9 of this year.
Under the document, the Ministry of Transport is required, within three months, to:
– make amendments to relevant documents, maps, and databases in connection with bringing the names of airports, bus terminals, and bus stations into compliance with the rules and standards of the state language, as well as assigning them new names;
– ensure that signage and information boards installed at airports, bus terminals, and bus stations are produced in the Uzbek language, based on the Latin alphabet, in accordance with the rules and standards of the state language.
In total, 161 names of facilities, including airports, bus terminals, and bus stations nationwide, will be brought into compliance with the rules and standards of the state language, while 21 facilities will be assigned new names.
