Jizzakh detention center chief sentenced to 6.5 years for taking bribe
The defendant promised to help a detainee receive a non-custodial sentence in exchange for $10,000.

A trial was held in the Farish District Criminal Court against the former head of the temporary detention center in the Sharof Rashidov district's Department of Internal Affairs.
The defendant demanded $10,000 from a suspect held in the detention center in exchange for assistance in obtaining a verdict that would not involve imprisonment.
He was arrested while receiving a $5,000 advance.
The court found the defendant guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment. He was also banned from holding positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs that involve financial responsibility for 2 years and 6 months.
