At the UN headquarters in New York, the General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on "Establishing, Promoting, and Planting Sustainable Forests in Degraded and Arid Areas as an Effective Solution to Combat Environmental Problems."

According to the "Dunyo" IA, this resolution was developed based on the concept of the "Green Space" national program, initiated by the President of Uzbekistan. This program aims to preserve and restore biodiversity through the greening of urban and rural areas.
The document reflects the key proposals made by the President of Uzbekistan during the 78th session of the General Assembly and the 28th UN Climate Change Conference on effectively combating climate change and land degradation.
Over 100 member states co-sponsored the resolution, including all Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Bahrain, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Indonesia, Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Mongolia, Morocco, Oman, UAE, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, France, and other countries representing various regions of the world.
The resolution comprehensively highlights the economic, social, and environmental benefits of sustainable forest management and tree planting. It emphasizes their contribution to increasing biodiversity, mitigating the effects of climate change and air pollution, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including eradicating poverty and ensuring food security.
A distinctive feature of the resolution is its alignment with the latest scientific approaches in environmental protection. It also provides specific recommendations to UN member states on tree planting aimed at preserving and enhancing biodiversity using environmentally friendly and ecosystem-based methods.
