Shavkat Mirziyoyev attends World Nomad Games opening ceremony in Astana
Athletes from Uzbekistan will participate in ethnic sports such as kurash, alysh, archery, horse racing, strongman competitions, and more.
On the eve of the event, Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the official opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games in Astana, according to the press service of the president.

The ceremony was also attended by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov, Chairman of Turkmenistan's Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and other international guests.

More than 2,000 athletes from about 90 countries, including Uzbekistan, are participating in the tournament. Uzbek athletes will compete in various sports such as kurash, alysh, tug-of-war, archery, horse racing, strongman competitions, and others.
The participants were treated to a theatrical performance showcasing the rich culture, history, traditions, and customs of nomadic peoples.
Following the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent. He was seen off at Astana International Airport by Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Oljas Bektenov.
It is worth noting that the World Nomad Games are international sporting competitions in ethnic sports, included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage. The games are rooted in the traditional folk sports of the historically nomadic peoples of Central Asia and aim to promote the development of ethno-sports and ethno-cultural movements as part of the heritage of human civilization.
