American University of Technology opens in Tashkent
On October 1, the American University of Technology officially opened its doors in Tashkent. The new higher education institution was established with the support of Cintana Education and is partnered with Arizona State University (ASU), one of the top 200 universities in the Times Higher Education rankings, according to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan.
Initially, the university will offer programs in software engineering and international trade, with plans to expand the curriculum to include architecture and design, engineering, IT, healthcare, international relations, economics, and finance. The educational process is designed to incorporate the expertise and practices of leading international universities.
The university aims to increase the number of academic programs in the coming years and is also working to establish joint degree programs with other U.S. universities, allowing graduates to earn American diplomas.
The memorandum for the university's creation was signed during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the United States in September 2023, where he met with Cintana Education’s CEO, Douglas Becker. In July 2023, the Uzbek president issued a decree for the establishment of the university, with Cintana Education committing to invest $30 million by 2030 and $50 million by 2035.
