Rising EV demand: Uzbekistan boosts electric vehicle imports in 2024
According to preliminary data from the Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan imported 12,913 electric vehicles (EVs) worth $166.8 million between January and August 2024. This surge in imports reflects the country's increasing focus on transitioning to cleaner, more sustainable transportation solutions.
China remained the dominant supplier, accounting for the vast majority of imports with 12,840 electric vehicles delivered to Uzbekistan.
Other countries contributing to the EV imports included Kazakhstan with 22 vehicles, Hong Kong with 15, Germany with 12, the United Arab Emirates with 10, and the United States with 9 vehicles.
Uzbekistan is increasing EV imports to promote environmentally friendly alternatives in its transport sector, aligning with global trends in reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable development.
