FIFA President expresses gratitude to Uzbekistan for the successful hosting of 2024 Futsal World Cup
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his gratitude to Uzbekistan for hosting the 2024 Futsal World Cup, praising the country for the successful organization of the event. In a post on his Instagram page, Infantino thanked the people of Uzbekistan for making the tournament a memorable celebration of sport.
"Thank you to everyone in Uzbekistan - the tournament was a wonderful celebration of our game and it showed once more the important role football has in bringing people together," Infantino wrote.
The Futsal World Cup was held from September 14 to October 6, with matches taking place in Andijan, Bukhara, and Tashkent. The final, hosted at the Humo Arena in Tashkent, saw Brazil claim victory over Argentina with a score of 2-1.
Unfortunately, the Uzbekistan national futsal team finished last in Group A and did not advance to the playoffs. Following the conclusion of the tournament, Uzbekistan dropped ten places in the FIFA futsal rankings, now standing at 21st.
