Uzbekistan's population reaches 37.4 million, growing by around 2,000 daily
As of October 1, 2024, Uzbekistan's permanent population has reached 37.4 million, according to data released by the Statistics Agency. This marks a 2.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
Throughout 2024, the country's population has increased by 555,600 people, reflecting a consistent growth pattern over the past months.
On average, the population grew by 61,700 people each month this year. This means that the country’s population is growing by an average of 2,000 people per day.
The steady population growth aligns with broader demographic trends in Uzbekistan, driven by natural population growth, including a high birth rate and declining mortality rate. This increase may also reflect internal factors such as improvements in healthcare and social conditions, which contribute to overall demographic development.
The government is likely to consider these demographic shifts in future planning, particularly in areas such as urban development, healthcare, education, and social services. As the population continues to rise, addressing the needs of a growing number of citizens will remain a critical focus for policymakers.
