Uzbekistan’s population reaches 37.7 million: Men slightly outnumber women
Uzbekistan’s permanent population has grown by 2 percent over the year, according to the latest data.

The National Statistics Committee reports that, as of April 1, 2025, the country’s permanent population stands at 37.7 million — an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2024.
Population breakdown:
- Women: 18.7149 million
- Men: 18.9829 million
- Urban population: 19.2164 million
- Rural population: 18.4814 million
Mortality and life expectancy forecasts
Forecasts for 2025 estimate that 223.9 thousand people may die in Uzbekistan that year. According to the agency, the average life expectancy in the country is 74.3 years.
More than half of all deaths are attributed to cardiovascular diseases, which remain the leading cause of mortality.
