Government increases social norm for natural gas consumption as heating season begins
Uzbekistan has raised the social norm for natural gas usage from 100 to 500 cubic meters per month as part of a seasonal adjustment for the colder months, beginning November 1. This adjustment is aimed at supporting households during the winter season, according to Hududgazta'minot JSC, the national gas supply company.
From November through February, natural gas pricing will follow a tiered rate structure based on monthly consumption:
• Up to 500 cubic meters: 650 soums per cubic meter
• 501 to 2,500 cubic meters: 1,500 soums per cubic meter
• 2,501 to 5,000 cubic meters: 1,950 soums per cubic meter
• 5,001 to 10,000 cubic meters: 2,275 soums per cubic meter
• Above 10,000 cubic meters: 2,600 soums per cubic meter
The new social norm and revised rates are designed to help consumers manage costs during the peak heating months when demand typically rises. These measures are expected to ease the financial burden for households across Uzbekistan, allowing greater access to necessary heating resources through the winter.
