Tashkent partners with China’s CSCEC for $1 billion urban development projects
The Tashkent administration has signed agreements with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) for major development projects worth $999 million.
Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, alongside representatives from Tashkent Invest, held discussions with Liu Dong, the general director of CSCEC's regional division. Following the negotiations, the two parties formalized agreements for four significant projects aimed at modernizing the city's infrastructure and housing sectors.
The first project, valued at $300 million, focuses on the reconstruction and modernization of Tashkent’s road infrastructure. This initiative includes upgrading roads and associated facilities, employing over 200 specialists such as surveyors and transportation engineers.
The second project involves establishing a joint venture to train architects, designers, and engineers specializing in road construction. The venture is expected to create over 20 jobs while enhancing professional development in this critical sector.
The third initiative, a $259 million project, will design and construct modern bridges to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the city's transportation network. This project is projected to generate 160 new jobs.
The final and largest project, worth $440 million, aims to develop a contemporary residential complex. The planned complex will feature residential buildings, business centers, educational institutions, and commercial areas, providing a multifunctional space for residents.
While the agreements mark a significant step in Tashkent’s development, specific details regarding the locations for road reconstruction, bridge construction, and the residential complex have yet to be disclosed.
