Muzaffar Komilov appointed rector of Islamic Academy
Muzaffar Komilov, recently relieved of his position as Presidential Advisor, has been appointed Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
On December 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued a decree relieving Muzaffar Komilov of his duties as the Presidential Advisor on Religious and Interethnic Relations.
Komilov previously served as Head of a Department at the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, as well as Vice-Rector at the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and the Tashkent State University of Economics. On April 18, 2018, he was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs. In February 2022, he succeeded Shoazim Minovarov as the President's Advisor on Cooperation with Public and Religious Organizations.
It was also announced that Uygun Gafurov was relieved of his duties as Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan due to transitioning to another position.
