Details regarding delivery timelines and the operational launch of the trains will be disclosed following the conclusion of the tender process.

This marks a significant development in Uzbekistan’s commitment to enhancing its railway infrastructure. Over the last decade, the country has introduced six Afrosiyob high-speed trains, based on Spain’s Talgo 250 model, capable of speeds up to 250 km/h. Earlier this year, Uzbekistan Railways signed an agreement with South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem for the delivery of six additional high-speed trains, designed to service the Tashkent–Urgench–Khiva route.

“This tender represents a substantial step forward in modernizing Uzbekistan’s railway infrastructure, reaffirming the nation’s dedication to efficient and sustainable transport solutions,” said Tahirov, an official representative.

Additionally, on December 3 this year, a new high-speed electric train service was launched between Tashkent and Khodjikent. Ticket prices for adults are set at 20,000 UZS, while children’s tickets cost 11,500 UZS.

Earlier, Kun.uz reported that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev traveled to Khodjikent on the new electric train.
