Gas supply to greenhouses temporarily restricted

“Hududgaztaminot” JSC has issued a statement addressing the temporary restrictions on gas supply to greenhouse farms.

Social media reports have claimed that greenhouse farms are facing gas supply restrictions due to a sharp drop in temperatures. These reports suggest that warning letters are being issued, notifying greenhouses of a 50% reduction in gas supply, with alleged pressure to sign them. In response, “Hududgaztaminot” JSC has provided clarification.

"Due to the significant decrease in air temperatures, consumer demand for natural gas has sharply increased, causing reduced gas pressure in pipelines across certain regions. Since ensuring natural gas supply to households and social facilities remains a top priority, restrictions have been imposed on some large consumers," the company explained.

The company emphasized that greenhouse farms are notified at least 24 hours in advance of any gas supply restrictions.

Additionally, it was highlighted that, as per resolutions issued by the President and the Cabinet of Ministers, greenhouse farms are required to maintain adequate reserves of alternative fuel in case of emergencies in the gas supply system. This requirement is outlined in a tripartite agreement involving “Hududgaztaminot” JSC, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city administrations, and the greenhouse farms themselves.

Consequently, during periods of partial gas supply restrictions, implemented under the terms of the tripartite agreement, greenhouse farms are expected to temporarily switch to their alternative fuel reserves.

"These restrictions are imposed exclusively during sharp temperature drops. Once gas pressure in the pipelines stabilizes, the restrictions will be lifted," the company assured.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy clarified that greenhouses are entitled to use natural gas as long as they ensure timely payments. This means that greenhouse owners can access natural gas without restrictions, provided they meet their payment obligations.
