Uzbekistan and Hungary discuss key agreements on labor mobility
Uzbekistan's ambassador held talks with Hungarian authorities on labor migration and readmission agreements.

In Budapest, Uzbekistanâs ambassador Oybek Shakhavdinov met with Dr. SĂĄndor Gömbös, Director General of the Directorate-General for Aliens Policing of Hungary. The discussions focused on strategic partnership opportunities between the two countries in the field of international labor migration, including the preparation of key agreements.
The talks highlighted the importance of signing agreements on readmission and economic mobility, which will establish the legal and organizational framework for Uzbek labor migrants in Hungary. General Dr. Gömbös emphasized that, starting January 2025, Hungary will grant work rights exclusively to citizens of countries with such agreements in place.
The Hungarian side expressed its readiness to host a delegation from Uzbekistanâs relevant ministries and agencies in early 2025 to discuss the details of migration cooperation further.
These efforts aim to strengthen bilateral relations, streamline labor migration processes, and ensure the legal status of migrants, paving the way for mutually beneficial partnerships between the two nations.
