Solar panels to be installed on half of residential and utility building roofs — Minister of Energy
Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov announced that 3,000 small hydropower plants (HPPs) will be launched within the next two years, along with a program to enhance energy efficiency in buildings by installing solar panels and solar collectors (solar water heaters) on at least 50% of the rooftop area of residential and utility buildings.

In an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov discussed the instructions to develop projects for the creation of new "green" power capacities totaling 1 GW, in addition to the already planned 3.5 GW. Furthermore, around 3,000 small HPPs are set to be commissioned within the next two years.
“The instructions have been given, and it has been tasked to develop a program to install solar panels and solar collectors (solar water heaters) on at least 50% of the rooftop area of residential and utility buildings,” said the Minister.
He also noted that the President had ordered the creation of a program to improve energy efficiency in buildings and to promote the conservation and rational use of electricity, natural gas, and thermal energy. The program also includes plans for the modernization of energy-inefficient enterprises and the establishment of new energy capacities.
