Shavkat Mirziyoyev sends condolence letter to the U.S. president
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences to U.S. President Donald Trump following the tragic aviation accident near Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, which resulted in numerous casualties.
"The head of our state expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to the entire American people," the statement said.
On the night of January 30, an American Airlines passenger plane and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided mid-air near Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington before crashing into the Potomac River.
According to American Airlines, there were 64 people on board the plane: 60 passengers and four crew members. The U.S. Army reported that there were three soldiers on board the helicopter. It was additionally noted that the accident involved a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter based in Virginia.
According to the latest information, as of now, the bodies of 28 deceased passengers have been recovered from the Potomac River. It was emphasized that the interagency rescue operation continued overnight under difficult conditions.
