Scammer arrested for fraudulent promise of U.S. job in exchange for $20,000
A citizen was arrested in Tashkent for allegedly promising to secure employment in the USA for $20,000, claiming he could help the victim travel and find a job through his high-ranking contacts.
The arrest took place during an operation conducted by officers from the Uchtepa District Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Security Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The suspect, identified as S.G., was accused of defrauding D.S. by gaining his trust and promising to send him to the USA for work, supposedly through his influential connections.
S.G. was apprehended while accepting $20,000 — demanded for his services — through his intermediary, A.A.
A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, and the investigation is ongoing.
