The law aims to ensure that the population has access to safe, nutritionally valuable food products, establish effective market mechanisms, and regulate the production of food products and raw materials.
The Cabinet of Ministers will oversee the implementation of a unified state policy in food safety and take urgent measures to ensure food security in Uzbekistan in the event of food shortages.
The Ministry of Agriculture is the designated state authority responsible for food safety.
The purpose of state support in food safety is to meet the population's needs for essential food products by increasing the production of locally sourced food and raw materials.
The law will come into force six months after its official announcement.
