Uzbekistan suspends Leapmotor vehicle imports
The certification of Leapmotor-branded vehicles in Uzbekistan has been temporarily suspended due to technical deficiencies identified in the Leapmotor C16 model.
Uzbekistan's Technical Regulation Agency has issued a warning letter to certification bodies, notifying them of the suspension.
According to the document, the decision was made after an issue was detected in the Leapmotor C16 vehicle.
The letter from EURO PROF TEST LLC, dated March 28, 2025, states that the Leapmotor C16 (VIN LFZ93AN96RD091431) failed to comply with the requirements outlined in Regulation Appendix 3, Clause 44.
"This non-compliance may cause electronic malfunctions or failures in related systems, leading to operational issues when using the vehicle’s electronics or other components," the letter states.
To protect consumer rights, the Technical Regulation Agency has halted the acceptance of certification applications for Leapmotor M1-category vehicles until the identified defects are rectified by the manufacturer.
Earlier, it was reported that queues at the vehicle testing laboratory in Piskent district, where imported cars undergo inspections, have been increasing. According to customs-related bloggers, the online appointment system for vehicle testing opens at midnight but fills up within a minute.
