Competition Committee discloses list of companies with exclusive rights
Companies that obtained exclusive rights through classified documents are not included in the registry.
The Competition Committee has released a registry of business entities that hold exclusive rights.
The registry includes 67 companies granted exclusive rights across 81 types of activities.
It was noted that companies granted exclusive rights based on classified documents will be maintained in a separate registry.
Most of the companies listed in the public registry are state-owned, with a significant portion operating in the construction sector. Several IT companies have also been granted exclusive rights in specific areas.
The registry includes a number of companies engaged in agriculture, geology, pharmaceuticals, tourism, insurance, and publishing.
From the energy sector, certain organizations in the hydropower industry are listed, as well as Uzenergosotish (responsible for centralized purchase and sale of electricity), UzGasTrade (centralized purchase and sale of natural gas), and the National Dispatch Center.
Among the few private companies included is CRPT Turon LLC, which holds two exclusive rights:
- Operating the national information system “Asl Belgisi” for product labeling and traceability;
- Issuing labeling codes to producers and importers of products subject to mandatory labeling.
The Uzbekistan Scientific Testing and Quality Control Center (UzTest) – frequently in the public eye lately due to the Piskent driving test track – has been granted an exclusive right to “conduct testing related to state control.”
Meanwhile, the operator of the mandatory IMEI registration system for mobile devices, Information Technology Center (USA), is not listed in the registry.
Likewise, companies believed to hold exclusive rights to access and export mineral resources are also absent from the public registry.
“The use, distribution, and granting of exclusive rights to business entities are regulated by legal and regulatory documents. If such rights are granted based on restricted-access legal acts, their registry is maintained separately as per established procedure,” reads the note at the end of the public registry.
