Authorities thwart smuggling of 2.37 million rubles at border
An individual attempting to illegally transport 2.37 million Russian rubles across the border has been detained at the “Oybek” customs checkpoint.
According to the press service of the Tashkent Regional Customs Department, the traveler was crossing the border on foot into a neighboring country when customs officers discovered a large amount of undeclared foreign currency hidden in his waistband and pockets.
During the inspection, customs officials found 2,370,000 Russian rubles in cash concealed in the waistband and pockets of the traveler’s trousers. The sum significantly exceeded the legal limit and was not declared in the customs documentation.
An official investigation into the incident is currently underway.
