A joint venture between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is underway in the Fergana region to manufacture copper and aluminum wire, according to the regional administration’s press service.
On July 18, the governor of the Fergana region, Khayrullo Bazarov, met with the project partners – Fatima Imomova from Fergana and Tajikistani citizen Shukhradzhan Ashurmatov. During the meeting, they discussed the construction of the future Osiyo Kabellari plant.
The factory will be built on a 1-hectare site in the Dangara district. The project is being financed through $10 million in direct foreign investment.
The new plant is scheduled to begin operations in December of this year. It is expected to produce 15,000 tons of copper wire and 1,700 tons of aluminum wire annually, with a total estimated value of UZS 260 billion. The facility will create around 100 permanent jobs.
A portion of the factory’s output will be exported to CIS countries, with Kyrgyzstan as the primary destination. In the initial phase, export volumes are projected at $1 million, and total contributions to the state budget are expected to reach UZS 28 billion.
The investors also discussed accelerating project implementation and connecting the plant to the necessary utilities and infrastructure. Bazarov pledged his support in facilitating this process.
