UAE eases driving regulations for tourists from Uzbekistan
The United Arab Emirates has simplified driving regulations for tourists from 52 countries, including Uzbekistan, Gulf News reported citing the UAE Ministry of Interior.
Now, nationals of these countries can drive in the UAE using their valid domestic driving licenses. The key conditions are that the tourist must be in the UAE on a visitor status (without a resident visa) and hold a valid driving license from their home country.
If a national from one of these 52 countries decides to relocate permanently to the UAE, they can obtain a local driving license without retaking exams. The license exchange fee is 600 dirhams (approximately $160). Additionally, a certified Arabic translation and a copy of the original license are required.
Besides Uzbekistan, the list includes Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan. However, Russia and Kazakhstan are not included.
