Tashkent Islamic Civilization Center damaged by blaze
On 19 August, around 11:00 a.m., a fire erupted at the Islamic Civilization Center under construction in the old city area of Tashkent.
Footage circulating on social media shows flames spreading from inside the building to the roof and domes of the center. Videos also depict dozens of people around the domes trying to extinguish the fire.
Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited the scene. The Ministry of Emergency Situations initially reported that construction materials had caught fire at the center and that firefighting operations had begun. Later, the ministry’s post on its Telegram channel was removed.
Earlier tonight, a fire also broke out at a kitchen located in front of the Minora-i-Kalon in Bukhara city.
