AI-92 gasoline becomes more expensive despite announced price cuts
In recent weeks, the price of AI-92 gasoline at filling stations has risen significantly. Since mid-July, prices have increased by up to 7.6 percent. At the same time, the price of AI-80 has also gone up.
On August 11, Uzbekneftegaz issued a statement saying “AI-92 gasoline price has been reduced.”
According to the statement, the starting price of AI-92 gasoline produced at the Bukhara Oil Refinery was reduced by 2 percent at exchange auctions – from UZS 12 million 881 thousand per ton to UZS 12 million 628 thousand.
“This, in turn, means that the starting exchange price of one liter of AI-92 gasoline is UZS 9,400,” the company said in its announcement.
In the following days, exchange prices fluctuated. On August 13, the price rose to UZS 12 million 991 thousand per ton, while on August 22 it dropped to UZS 12 million 633 thousand. On August 25, the trading price settled at UZS 12 million 855 thousand per ton.
Retail prices at filling stations, however, went up. In particular, at Mustang and Poytaxt Oil stations, the price of AI-92 has increased from UZS 10,500 to UZS 11,300 per liter since mid-July – a 7.6 percent rise.
Earlier, it was reported that the price of AI-80 gasoline had been raised to UZS 9,100 at several filling stations. Considering that the production of this fuel grade may be discontinued in the coming months, drivers unwilling to install gas equipment in their cars will face significantly higher fuel expenses.
