Uzbekistan ends testing of imported cars at Piskent ground
Starting from September 2, 2025, the practice of testing imported cars at the laboratory in Piskent will be discontinued. The decision is explained by the growing number of official dealers operating in Uzbekistan.
The Technical Regulation Agency reported that from September 2, 2025, vehicle testing at the Piskent laboratory will be halted.
The decision is linked to the increase in the number of official dealers in the country.
“Until 2024, only three dealership centers were operating in Uzbekistan, and they had obtained type approval documents for just 15 car models. Currently, official dealers of 21 foreign companies have begun operations, and type approval documents have been issued for more than 100 car models.
As a result, the system for delivering vehicles to consumers – with guaranteed quality, safety, and warranty – has been improved. Consumers now have the opportunity to purchase a variety of vehicles directly from official dealers.
Taking into account the sharp increase in the number of official dealers and service centers in our country, as well as the introduction of consumer practices of purchasing through official dealers, the practice of testing vehicles at the Piskent proving ground will be discontinued from September 2, 2025,” the statement said.
The Technical Regulation Agency told Kun.uz that testing of imported cars will be completely stopped and will not be reinstated at customs facilities as before.
For reference, since November 1, 2024, imported vehicles were tested not at customs facilities, but at the Piskent proving ground. In addition, tests for electromagnetic compatibility were introduced for cars imported individually or by private entrepreneurs. This led to long queues at the proving ground and sparked discontent among vehicle owners.
