Uzbekistan’s junior judokas reach historic World Championships final, take silver
Uzbekistan’s young judokas defeated the national teams of France, Kazakhstan and Mongolia on their way to the final.
For the first time in its history, Uzbekistan’s junior national team reached the final, where they faced Japan – the birthplace of judo – in a fierce battle for the world title, losing 2–4.
In the individual competitions, Uzbekistan also made history by topping the team standings among 71 participating countries. For the first time, the national team secured 5 gold and 2 bronze medals.
In the mixed team event, Uzbekistan became the world vice-champion, overcoming France, Kazakhstan and Mongolia en route to the final.
