Novo-Angren thermal plant faces violations over air pollution
Authorities have identified air pollution from the Novo-Angren thermal power plant in Ahangaran district, Tashkent region, and issued directives to address the violations.
The regional environmental department reported that inspections revealed the plant’s operations produce pollutants released into the atmosphere.
During the inspection, it was found that the existing dust and gas cleaning equipment at the facility does not provide sufficient purification efficiency. In line with the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution No. 202 of 12 April 2021, compensation for environmental damage was calculated and orders were issued to eliminate the shortcomings. The amount of compensation has not been disclosed.
A “roadmap” has been developed to prevent further emissions and reduce their negative impact on the population.
