Uzbekistan has once again delayed the rollout of eco-stickers for vehicles, a system designed to classify cars based on their emission levels. The new launch date has been set for 1 January 2026.

According to a government resolution, the eco-sticker scheme is part of the broader “Eco Transport” program, which aims to reduce harmful emissions from vehicles and promote environmentally friendly transport. Cars will be labeled with green, yellow, or red stickers depending on the amount of pollutants they emit.
The program will be phased in over nearly a decade. The first stage, covering 2025–2027, will be limited to Tashkent. Between 2028 and 2030, the scheme will expand to Nukus, regional capitals, and designated ecological zones such as tourist areas, nature reserves, and recreation centers. The final stage, scheduled for 2031–2034, will cover the rest of the country.
Authorities will evaluate vehicles based on their manufacturer’s ecological class, commonly referred to as the “Euro” standard. If this data is unavailable, cars will undergo diagnostic testing at the Interior Ministry’s state unitary enterprise, the Center for Innovative Projects and Public Service Provision, to determine their compliance.
The eco-sticker initiative was originally scheduled to begin on 1 June 2024. It was later pushed back to 1 March 2025 before being postponed once more to January 2026.
