Kyrgyzstan launches digital queue at border with Uzbekistan
An electronic queuing system has been introduced at the Dostyk border crossing. It is expected to reduce time and costs when crossing the border, as well as remove administrative barriers.
As part of Kyrgyzstan’s ongoing digitalization efforts, the electronic queue management system was launched at the Dostyk checkpoint on the border with Uzbekistan, 24.kg reported.
According to the source, the initiative aims to cut crossing time and expenses while eliminating bureaucratic hurdles.
The system has already proven effective: since November 2024 it has been tested at the Kyzyl-Kiya – road transport checkpoint. As a result, congestion of freight vehicles was completely eliminated, border-crossing procedures were simplified, and discipline among carriers improved.
Deputy Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Iskandar Asilkulov said the electronic queue will streamline procedures, reduce business costs, and make trade processes more transparent. He noted that the project is part of the government’s strategy for the digital transformation of the economy.
The initiative has been implemented with the support of the European Union and the International Trade Centre.
