Uzbekistan awards world championship medalists in boxing, weightlifting, and canoe sprint

A total of 13 athletes and their coaches who won medals at the World Championships in boxing, weightlifting, and canoe sprint have been presented with BYD cars and cash awards.

According to the National Olympic Committee, the athletes who achieved outstanding results at the recent world championships received special gifts from the president.

Gold medalists were awarded $15,000 each, silver medalists received $7,500, and bronze medalists were given $3,750. Their coaches were granted a one-time cash prize equal to half of the athlete’s reward.

In addition, gold medalists received BYD Song Plus Champion cars, while silver and bronze medalists were presented with BYD Chazor vehicles.

It should be noted that Ruslan Nuriddinov became a three-time world champion after setting a new record at the Weightlifting World Championships in Bahrain. Meanwhile, Artur Guliev claimed gold at the Canoe Sprint World Championships held in Milan.

The Uzbekistan boxing team also excelled at the World Boxing Championships held in Liverpool, England, from 4 to 14 September, securing 11 medals – 6 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.

Gold medals

  • 60 kg – Abdumalik Khalokov
  • 65 kg – Asadkhoja Muydinkhojaev
  • 75 kg – Fazliddin Erkinboev
  • 80 kg – Javohir Ummataliyev
  • 85 kg – Akmaljon Isroilov
  • 90 kg – Turabek Khabibullaev

Silver medals

  • 65 kg – Navbakhor Hamidova
  • +90 kg – Jahongir Zokirov

Bronze medals

  • 48 kg – Sabina Bobokulova
  • 51 kg – Feruza Kazakova
  • 70 kg – Aziza Zokirova

For the first time, men’s and women’s competitions were held jointly, and the results were tallied together. Kazakhstan topped the overall standings with seven gold medals (four in the men’s team and three in the women’s team). Uzbekistan followed with six golds, all won by the men’s team.

The men’s team achieved its best-ever performance with six golds and one silver. The previous record was set at the 2023 IBA World Championships in Tashkent, where the team won five golds, two silvers, and two bronzes across 13 weight categories.
