Allamjonov has played a prominent role in strengthening Uzbekistan-US relations in recent years. He has served as an adviser to the Head of the Presidential Administration under a contract since June 2025 and as the administration’s representative in the United States since November 2025.
During this period, cooperation between Tashkent and Washington has intensified significantly. The presidents of Uzbekistan and the United States have met in person four times over the past year and held several telephone conversations.
The US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was established, strengthening the institutional framework for economic cooperation. Meetings between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and delegations from leading US companies were held several times in Washington last year and in Tashkent this year as part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
Alongside efforts to attract more US investment to Uzbekistan, steps have also been taken to make it easier for Uzbek businesses to operate in the United States. From January 1, 2026, Uzbek residents no longer need government approval to transfer funds to the United States for the purpose of establishing a company or purchasing shares in US companies.
According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Uzbek residents invested $153 million directly in foreign assets in the first quarter of 2026. This was 33 times higher than the figure recorded a year earlier.
Allamjonov also serves as a special adviser to the George Washington University’s Central Asia Program.
