Uzbekistan’s consulate in Vladivostok issues safety guidance after Kamchatka tremors

Following a tsunami warning, Uzbek nationals have been urged to follow emergency instructions and remain calm.

On 19 September, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean near the Kamchatka region. Tremors were felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsk, reaching up to 7 on the intensity scale. A tsunami threat has been announced.

According to the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok, citing data from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), there is no information on casualties or damage. Emergency services are operating at heightened readiness.

“The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Vladivostok is in constant contact with EMERCOM, regional authorities, and other competent agencies. We urge our citizens to strictly follow the instructions of emergency services and remain calm,” the statement said.
