Gold bar sales in Uzbekistan hit 380 kg in 2025, surpassing last year’s total
Since the beginning of 2025, Uzbekistan has sold more gold bars than during the entire previous year, according to Sanjar Valiev, head of the Central Bank’s Department for International Reserves Management.
As of 19 September, a total of 380 kilograms of gold bars had been sold in the country, purchased by 17,387 individuals. This represents a 61% increase in volume and a 20% rise in the number of transactions compared to all of 2024. On average, each purchase accounted for 21.85 grams, or UZS 161.57 million at Friday’s exchange rate.
Since 2020, gold bar sales in Uzbekistan have increased 8.8 times, while the number of purchases has grown 7.2 times.
The sharpest growth was seen in 2024, when sales nearly doubled (up 2.2 times) compared to the previous year, and the number of transactions rose more than 2.5 times.
On Wednesday, 17 September, prices for gold bars in Uzbekistan once again hit a historic high.
One gram of the precious metal cost UZS 1,510,660, up 0.36% for the day. A 5-gram bar was priced at UZS 7.553 million – UZS 22,000 higher than the previous record.
Gold has updated its record price on the local market for the 30th time since the beginning of this year. Over eight and a half months, its price has risen by 33.4%, while the year-on-year increase amounted to 38.3% (from UZS 1,092,460).
