Young man in Surkhandarya sentenced to three years in prison for sharing banned content six years ago
A young man in Surkhandarya has been sentenced to three years in prison for sharing an online content containing extremist ideas. The verdict was announced by the regional court’s press service.
According to the report, the defendant, identified as U.A., liked and shared a content titled “Jannatga oshiqlar” (“Lovers of Paradise”) by Abdulloh domla, also known as Abdugani Umarov, on the “Odnoklassniki” platform. The lecture was said to promote extremist views.
On 1 July 2025, the Qumqorgon District Criminal Court sentenced the defendant to three years in prison, to be served in a general-regime colony.
“The crime committed by U.A. is classified as a serious offense, and therefore a custodial sentence was imposed,” the press release stated.
Earlier, courts in the same region handed down prison sentences ranging from six to 13 years to individuals found guilty of being influenced by extremist ideas.
