During the event, speakers stressed that migration is a natural socio-economic process with a significant impact on regional development. They emphasized that fair and safe management of migration requires a solid legal framework, effective institutions, and strong political will.

Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Affairs, Investments and Tourism, outlined Uzbekistan’s efforts to safeguard the rights of labor migrants and ensure safe working conditions abroad.

He noted that more than 20 regulatory documents have been adopted in this field. The Republican Commission on Migration Issues, the Migration Fund, and the Migration Agency are actively operating, while cooperation with the International Labor Organization is steadily expanding. Uzbekistan has also introduced a systematic approach to lawful and organized labor migration, established training centers, and strengthened financial and legal support mechanisms for its citizens.

A particular focus was placed on the principle that citizens’ rights and interests must be protected regardless of the country in which they live. Between 2020 and 2024, over $6 million was recovered in favor of nearly 14,000 Uzbek migrants whose labor rights had been violated.
