Presidents of Uzbekistan and Korea agree to deepen strategic partnership across priority sectors
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the Uzbekistan–Korea special strategic partnership and expand multifaceted cooperation. They noted with satisfaction the high level of interaction achieved in recent years, along with the dynamic exchanges and contacts at all levels.
Mutual trade continues to grow steadily. The volume of direct investment by Korean companies in Uzbekistan’s economy has exceeded $8 billion.
The long-standing and fruitful cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Export-Import Bank of Korea and its funds was highly praised. Their joint project portfolio amounts to $3.5 billion.
An agreement was reached to prepare a new long-term program of technological and industrial partnership. This will promote projects in the fields of deep processing of critical raw materials, chemistry, mechanical engineering, agriculture, transport, aviation, biotechnology and other priority areas.
In this context, the importance of effectively holding the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was emphasized.
The sides also exchanged views on issues of regional cooperation, including within the Central Asia – Republic of Korea format.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan invited the president of Korea to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan.
