Uzbekistan to use space monitoring to detect illegal logging from 2026
Starting next year, the Agency “Uzbekcosmos” will carry out monitoring activities together with relevant government bodies.

According to a presidential decree, from 2026, measures to identify illegal logging using space technologies will be conducted nationwide at the end of each calendar year, the Ministry of Justice reported.
In addition, several pilot projects are planned to be implemented from 2026:
In the energy sector:
- by 1 August 2026, aerospace monitoring of high-voltage power transmission lines will be conducted in the Buka district of Tashkent region to enable early detection of malfunctions;
- by 1 October 2026, areas with the highest potential for solar panel installation and energy efficiency will be identified in Surkhandarya region as part of efforts to expand “green” energy.
In the transport sector:
- by 1 October 2026, aerospace monitoring of the Tashkent – Angren railway line will be carried out to establish real-time control over the condition of railway tracks.
