Public hearings on nuclear power plant construction in Uzbekistan to begin soon
Uzbekistan is set to launch public hearings on the construction of a nuclear power plant, with domestic and international experts participating to inform citizens about the project, the head of the Uzatom Agency said.

Azim Akhmedkhodjaev announced the upcoming program during the World Nuclear Week international forum in Moscow, as reported by Spot. He emphasized that public opinion will play a key role in shaping the project.
“We have developed a comprehensive program for public hearings, which we will begin very soon. It involves engaging a large number of industry specialists from Uzbekistan and abroad to explain the work we plan to carry out. Without public feedback, we will not be able to move forward,” Akhmedkhodjaev said.
The agency plans to collect feedback from citizens and incorporate their suggestions into the project where appropriate.
Akhmedkhodjaev also highlighted that residents of Jizzakh region support the construction of the nuclear power plant and are eager for work to commence. According to him, the population sees the project as a catalyst for regional development and an improvement in quality of life.
