AFC fines Uzbekistan Football Association $340,000 for unauthorized post-match ceremony
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has fined the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) for several violations during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Uzbekistan and Qatar, held on June 10 this year in Tashkent.
Following the match, BYD-branded cars were brought onto the pitch and presented to players and coaches. According to the AFC, this ceremony violated the organization’s regulations.
The AFC stated that the association organized the car presentation without prior coordination with the confederation, failed to protect the rights of its commercial partners, and engaged in elements of covert marketing. Additionally, the UFA did not provide sufficient support for official events, including press conferences.
For these violations, the UFA has been fined a total of $340,000. The amount must be paid within 30 days of receiving official notification of the decision.
